2010 issues in Web Development

In 2010, we acknowledged the Top Web Development issues such as:

  1. Facebook’s Release HipHop for PHP
HipHop is an internal open-source project intended to speed up PHP for large-scale applications.
The project was the culmination of two years of work by a team of Facebook engineers; in the end, it got a warm welcome from Rasmus Lerdorf (the creator of PHP), who said,

“I think it is a cool project and it will certainly be a good option for some sites.”

  2. Microsoft’s Release Visual Studio 2010
I don’t have enough time and hardware resources to try that out, but some people said that the IDE was completely reengineered from the ground up. Silverlight support was integrated, and also the release of F# (F sharp), a new a multi-paradigm programming language that includes functional programming.
  3. Apple Inc. versus Adobe Flash
By the development of HTML5 by the consortium, Apple Inc.’s Steve Jobs stated that “no one will use Flash, the world is moving to HTML5″. It applies in at least one of Apple Inc’s major new products in 2010: iPad, which come without Flash support.

Facebook Color Status Explained

If you’ve spent your time in Facebook just a few days ago. You might be notice status updates with a slew of single word color statuses from your female friends. In case you haven’t seen it yet, woman (and could be some man) are posting only single word updates with the color (of their bra) from your female friends. But who’s actually behind the bra color campaign, and what they’re trying to accomplish, remains a mystery. Speculation, however, is running rampant.

It turns out that the updates are the bra colors of your friends and spread through messages on the social networking site. Some blogs informs that the color update craze was started by women in Detroit who are trying to raise awareness around Breast Cancer (though October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Another blog (blog) backs up that notion and includes the following Facebook (Facebook) message:

“Some fun is going on…. just write the color of your bra in your status. Just the color, nothing else. It will be neat to see if this will spread the wings of breast cancer awareness. It will be fun to see how long it takes before people wonder why all the girls have a color in their status… Haha .”

Yay for breast cancer awareness, but is this really the best way to go about it? Discuss amongst yourselves.
